for everyone

Well, after having been told that I haven’t blogged for awhile, and that it meant that ppl didn’t know wat was happening in my life I thought I’ll keep you’se updated…

I’ve been working…I’m an accountant….numbers numbers numbers…P&L, P&L, Balance sheet, balance sheet, reconciliations, journal entries, debit credit, debit credit, and sometimes if it’s an exciting day…Debit debit debit, credit.  There you go…dats wat I’ve bn up to. J

Boy, do I fit the mould of a stereotypical accountant?!

Anyways, it’s been a busy and full month or so…work has been intense, I came back from exams, and had a full on month thru out November, cos my boss was away on holiday.  I don’t remember wat happened, but all our wkends in Nov were full of progams 2…it was crazy…and now, December is half way gone, and it’s just as busy.  Work was a bit quiet at first, but then my boss came back from holiday.  For those who don’t know, the company has been lookin at divesting some of their businesses, specifically the Hotels division, which I’m in…which we have bn advised dat I’ll eventually b made redundant..the timing in unknown, depending when the properties can be sold.  They’re doing da same thing in our NZ office, but one property hasn’t bn able to sell, so now we’ve inherited their workload until it sells. So now, work has picked up slightly…but it’s still boring work.  Anyways, I’ve started slowly looking for jobs, but being December, it’s been a bit quiet…but hopefully it’ll pick up in January….just annoying having to linger for an unknown period of time, and have a 3 month notice period as well.

Oh the NZ property we picked up is called Whakatane, but in Maori, “Wh” is pronounced “F”…dats just “Whrikkin weird!”…

Other than work, things are normal.  Home is fine…other than dat…have been slowly catching up wit my Battlestar Galactica…around half way of season 2…also have been keeping up wit my geekdom on podcasts dat I watch/listen to wen I’m on da train, wen I’m not playing on PSP…

So yeah, all is well….oh, and Xmas is coming up…have only taken the wk b/w xmas and new years off…will see, but still haven’t decided whether we’re heading up da coast yet..will see…..Man I need a holiday…..need another Europe trip and tag on another 6 wk US trip…..*sigh*

Anyways....hope you guys have a great xmas and new yrs, if I don’t see you’se before that….

So say we all!

Wat is the tooth fairy suppose to teach children?

I heard my colleagues talking bout their kids having been visited by the Tooth Fairy…

And was wondering wat IS the point of the Tooth fairy?!?! U lose a tooth, and the Tooth fairy gives u money, if u put it underneath the pillow for them to collect.  I Wikipediaed-it, and it only gives you the history and folklore of it.  But I don’t get wat it’s suppose to teach children?!?!

Well, since everyone likes a poll….

Began on Friday nite wit Trivia nite…was a good nite….my contribution to our team…knowing Anne Hathaway likens a kiss with Steve Carrell as a candy full of Sunshine, remembering that first moon landing was in 1969, and the chemical structure of Methanol…

Then Sat’day, slept in a bit, then a long drive down to Camden for Paintball (Check out “War Journal” blog).  Good day…afterwards, got home, had a really quick rest…had a bottle of beer, then went out for dinner, Shanghainese.  Then home again for a decent rest…

Sunday, usual had church, then lunch…then a few of us decided to watch Transformers 2.  I’m not even gonna write a review…well not at this stage anyways…but my comment so far, is that it’s better than the first one, but still NOTHING on the original cartoon…awesomeness on Megan Fox and Isabelle Lucas…funny, last time the Aussie girl on Transformers (Rachel Taylor), we haven’t seen her in anything else again…will Isabella Lucas share the same fate?!  I have one major “annoyance” wit da movie…but mite leave it for the review to complain about it.  Then went back to my parents place, had dinner, and then went home to bum a bit…

Was a big wkend…and next week looks pretty “packed” too

Blog EntryJun 28, '09 10:26 PM
for everyone

It was a nicely overcast day…it was perfect, the terrain wouldn’t be too wet, and we won’t be too sweaty in our gear.  We ventured out to Camden, our rendezvous point to meet the rest of our battalion.  Camden was 1.5hrs from headquarters, so we got out there and got straight into it without lunch…It’s not good to go into battle with an empty stomach.  We got all the admin stuff outta way, and got onto the briefing.  There was no delay, we went straight into it.  Our squad (Green Team) was made of various members, but all looked like they were up to the job. Re-con has gathered info that the enemy (Red Team) had some big names pros in modern warfare, but that wasn’t threatening to the courageous Green Team.

Mission 1:

a)Green team to defend turret from enemy explosive infiltration.

The course was rough, but we had our defences in place.  We went for covers, and some stayed back to defend the turret.  I found excellent cover on the left flank, behind a board and a next to a tree, tree covered my right, and the board to my left and front.  I had clear view of the trench that runs in the middle of the field near the turret.  I managed to help hold off enemy forces on the left side, I had clear shots of enemies coming in the trench.  But unfortunately, we were overwhelmed by enemy forces, and they were able to infiltrate our defence and blew up the turret.  You may have won the battle, but you haven’t won the war.

b)Green team to infiltrate and destroy enemy turret.

We decided on our “couriers” who would deliver the 3 packages that would destroy the enemy turret.  I wasn’t one of them, I needed to help provide cover fire and support our couriers…we made our way throughout the field.  I went up on the right with another courier.  We were under fire, heavy fire from all sides.  We managed to hold them off…but we were pinned down in our position.  One team member was shot, so I picked up his package, and another was reloading ammo.  I offered to take up both her and my package to enemy lines…she provided cover fire…but the enemy had it covered…I tried to go for it, but no luck.  In the end the battle was ended by the siren (whistle) to end this battle.

Mission 2:

a)Green team to protect the General, and capture the flag.

I was acting General on the field.  I can get sure, but the enemy must eliminate me by a headshot.  However, I must go and capture the flag behind enemy lines.  I trusted my men to protect me.  Anyways, 2 minute recycle time means that our soldiers can be shot, but be revived and come back on the back of the field.  It was a good time to scout the field and area.  I managed to survive in the recycle time…making my way forward into enemy territory…however, 2 mins after recycle time is up, I was already well flanked by enemies…I needed to get a better visual of where the enemies were…however, an enemy sharpshooter, assassinated me from a crate with gaps in it.  A textbook headshot, right in the middle of my forehead. Darnit!

b)Green team to assassinate the enemy General, and protect the flag.

Our objective was clear, defence is always a good offense.  We had it well covered, so we thought.  I had a good cover, sort of…until enemies infiltrated our space.  I had the General on my left, who was pretty much hammered down by my teammate, until he got shot…so it was up to me…but then I had 2 enemies on my right (one being the so-called LtChan), I had line of site on both, but if I had good vantage point on one of them, I was open to be shot by the other…I was pinned.  Before I could get out to do anything, the General had already past me and captured the flag.  ARGH!  You may have won THIS battle, but you haven’t won the war!

Mission 3:

a)Retrieve the Box!

An aircraft has crash landed and it was believed that in a box onboard, there contains important data.  Some speculate the enemy is building a new DeathStar, but we would only know if we retrieved the box.  We started from our side of the field. The siren blows, and we all run in (same with the enemy) guns blazing!  I ran for the cover that was closes to the plane wreckage.  Our team was spread out, which provided good cover fire. I ran towards the plane without being hit….I shot thru the plane window for cover, an enemy had a clear shot thru it.  I hid in the plane, thinking when it’d be safe to take the box.  After a while I couldn’t wait any longer…it was now or never.  I picked up the heavy box (this thing better be worth), and ran for it……enemy fire was all around me…I felt a lil hit on my belt…I felt my back..but nothing..no color or moisture…the shot ricochet off my belt…I was safe back on home turf wit the data box.  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

b)Retrieve the Box!

The mission was the same, but we started on the opposite side of the field this time.  It was somehow harder this time round, the environment was different.  I was able to reach the cover closest to the plane.  My teammate was next to the plane, pinned down by enemy fire…he eventually got shot….which then followed by shouts of victory from the enemy who was able to retrieve the box before we could.  GGrrrr!

Mission 4:

a)Touch the enemy flag

The field reminded me of Normandy, D-Day…working uphill, with enemy shelter at the top of the hill, and we have no cover..and have to go around anti-tank structures at the base of the hill.  Good thing is we had recycle time, so we were able to be healed and start again but that didn’t help.  It was almost an impenetrable defence, until a good man of our was able to break thru enemy lines from the right flank, and went around their defence and got the flag!  Good man (special mention to XGX for the man of the hour there)

b)Defend the flag

We designated members to defend the flag at different places.  The enemies made their way up.  I was stationed behind our defence shelter in case anyone breaks thru our lines.  There were a few making their way thru the left.  I tried to cover, but they had a good vantage point, and an enemy was able to shoot me from behind some cover (I believe that was LtChan).  In the end, our defence broke, or may be neglected, and an enemy made it to the flag from straight down the middle of the field.

Mission 5 (FINAL MISSION):

With ammo running low on both sides, our last mission was to eliminate all enemies with a Mexican stand-off.  Green team on one side, and the enemy facing us some metres away.  Guns on the ground.  The rule…is there is no rule, you die when you run out of ammo, oh and also, if you step out of your line, your teammate is welcome to shoot you.  The siren blows, and all make for our guns and hose down the enemy.  We ALL stood our ground, copping every one of the enemy’s shot.  It was painful, but had to fight to the end.  It turned out to be a glorious massacre (ok, not the best description in actual context, but it was awesome).  Our superiors were amazed that in previous encounters, squads would scatter, but this time…everyone stood their ground.  Heroic!

With us killing each other off, it proves to show…no one wins in a war…everyone losses! J

It was a fun day, GG man, GG!

Yep the big news came out today….Michael Jackson is dead…which surprisingly over-shadowed the unfortunate news of Farrah Fawcett death of cancer.  Hmmm, I didn’t know Michael Jackson was more respected than Farrah Fawcett.  In recent years, many a people have condemn Michael Jackson, whether that be becoming white (cos u know, “it don’t matter, if you’re black or white”), marrying Elvis’ daughter, dangling his baby over the balcony, pedo rumours, never-land, having the head of the elephant man, bankruptcy etc…he copped HEAPS from the media and the public….people thought him weird, and hated him and just discriminated and blasted him for it…but now, he’s dead?!?! And that makes him the pity of the whole world?!?!  Wats the change of mind?!?!  Now the spotlight is back on him as the king of pop and star…but no, no1 overlooked all that other stuff, when he was alive, no1 saw him as King of Pop/star wen he WAS alive….

I think the whole thing is a total bull!

Oh and I think he’s still alive..he probably got a medical procedure to change his appearance, so he won’t be recognisable, and out of the public eye, just so he won’t get ridiculed by the world….

And despite the death, it’s funny to see that the jokes have already began…one I heard today:

Michael Jackson is dead, Doctors advise against having 12 yo sausages.

Nasty!

ah, where has time gone?!  This time yesterday I was doing GL recs, this time last week...probably the same thing...last month?! prob having lunch after church, or at least still deciding where to go for lunch.  This time last year, cleaning up and getting ready to move out of our studio in London. How time flies.

Now back to the normality of Sydney life, but I guess from one adventure to another, we're now getting ready to move out to our place..still lots to organise, but still, guess it's an adventure in and of its own....new surrounding, and new home.

We had our first "shipment" last nite...moved some stuff over...mainly stuff we don't need, like my bass, amp and some of girlygirl's clothes...ntohing major really....lotta lil bits and pieces, and hopefully will move those first...then hopefully leave all da major items to last.  Long process, but we'll get there..

Anyways....other than the busy-ness of life, things are alright...(besides the fact I'm mega-hungry right now)...anyways...things are cool...

on a different note..I went into the kitchen at work to make myself a cuppa...one of the admin girls were there...she commented, "She's so hot!", I asked, "Who"..."Megan Fox. she's so hot, I'll do her"...hmmm, ok......i made my drink and left...

In the days of stocktakes and cheap games..have seen this game on the shelf that looks a little interesting, read up on the game details...it looks quite cartoonish.  Actually, I think it caters more for kids than a "mature" gamer...like me :)  Anyways, the game itself is pretty simple.  You control a character, find secrets items, rescue people.  The extra activity in the game is that you get to design your character, draw certain objects and color in some items.  Yep, it actually sounds like a kiddy game.  But it's not the game I'm interested in...it's the premise/story of the game it is based on.

The story:
There was once a village of Raposa.  A village created by "The Creator".  All that was created and everything about the village and its people are recorded in "The book of life".  The Creator created it all, everything was fine in the village...until.....A little Rapo (Wilfire), thought the Creator's book of life was rubbish and wasn't good enough, so he decided to write his own "Book of Life".  He ripped up the Creator's version and scattered it, and wrote his own Book.  Things started happening, the world started to change.  Dark clouds cover the village, and new ugly creatures/monsters started popping up.  The Repos became scared, and left the village, looking for other lands to live.  There were those who stayed in the village, they stayed and was hoping the Creator will save them.  As the village gets darker and more desolate, a lil child in the village cries out and ask the Creator to save them, and save the village.  One day, the Creator replies, he hears the cry, and wants to bring the village back to life.  So to help the revival of the village, the Creator sends a "Hero" who will help him rebuild the village, and bring all the villagers back so the village will be whole again.  The Hero arrives and he goes around recovering people and bringing them back to the village, and rebuild the village and bringing back the "Book of Life".

Tell me that doesn't sound like THIS story?!
God created the world and its inhabitants, a home for people.  People and God's relationship was fine.  But one man thought he would do better than God, live by his own way...ends up dooming the rest of humanity.  People were scattered and no relationship wit God.  There are those who cry out for salvation, and reconciled to God.  God answers and sends his hero, Jesus, to save all humankind.  Bringing people back to his world.

Man, the game might not be much, but the story is bloody awesome....

After a nite of kids and loud noises, girlygirl and I sat on da couch to chill.  I looked in the tv guide to see wat's on..One HD...9:00pm Slamball, 9:30 Sports Tonight, 10:00 Motorsports: Drifting.  MAN, yes, U know I'll lookin forward to getting a tv and watching some awesome shows wen we move out...Drifting, bloody awesome...reminds me of some good times in my own car...previously....anyways...watched a bit of dat...but before that....was really intrigued by Slamball.  I mean, I know they show "Extreme Paintball" on One HD...but wat da heck is Slamball?! Anyways, watched it...hmm, wat can I say...it's like a Basketball exhibition game?!  It's like....pepsi is to coke, as this is to basketball?! mortal komboat to street fighter, Ridge racer to Daytona... hmm, wat other parallels can I say, hmmm,.lets just say, it's like a really bad sequel..

Well, the game itself, is like basketball.  on a basketball court, but within the 3-throw line, there are trampolines, so u can jump/bounce and dunk the ball into the ring.  It's almost like basketball for ppl who can't really dunk or something....there are 4 ppl in a team, and they have different positions.  the game is pretty fast..oh, and there's no out of bounds.  The court is surrounded by perspects and u can pass the ball to urself on it, and also pass to urself on da trampolines.  One thing dat was cool to watch tho, is the spectacular dunks they do in the game...cos of the trampoline, they get massive air-time...they're like alley-oop to themselves, huge tomahawks above the ring, something like double windmill dunks...it was pretty cool...and does look like a good party game.

that's just it tho...it looks like someone kinda just made it up at a party...and think dats where it belongs...but it seems like they have an actual official league...hmmm, it's like a really really poor man's version of the NBA...haha...
but I guess it does make for a good mindless television show...think it'll be great on a Sat'day arvo with a bunch of guys and a keg of beer...

First, let me just say how cool the new Multiply looks.  Wow, Multiply 4.0....may b I should change my name to Fwoosh 2.0....may b that'll improve my looks and function too...

Anyways, what's with the crazy coldness in Sydney these days?!  it's so cold that I've decided to take out my London clothes out...it's freezing!  Last nite dug thru our boxes from London to get my faithful jacket out.  I found my old Oakley jacket, those of you who knows, it's the one that looks like jelly's jacket...the demin one with the wooly inside.  ah, nice jacket...but I end up leaving that in the box...mite whip that out after we move...don't wanna lug around TOO many winter jackets for the move...too weighty...anyways...found my Next jacket, I got in London....I took it out to wear this morning for work, and realise that this faithful jacket has been thru it all with me in Europe.  It's seen the snow of Bertesgarten, and it's been snowed on in Salzburg, it's been to Charle's Bridge in Prague and more..man, the more I talk about it, the more I wanna just leave it in the wardrobe at home...I love this Jacket!!!  I should give it a name....Snow!
I'm gonna call it, Snow....(even tho it's black...hmmmm)

Oh, and ppl have sed that, it's probably not as cold as it was in London/Europe...that may be true, but when you haven't experienced a Autumn/Winter for over a year, it kinda get climatised to warmer weathers.  We left London in its Spring/Summer time in June...then went thru Summer in US, then back to Spring and Summer, and Autumn back in Oz....so yeah, we've had warm weather for ages now....and Plus...since wen did going to colder countries make u immuned to the cold?!  just means ur a bit more use to it at the time...

Anyways, hope u guys are all snugged up and warm...

While having lunch at the food hall, with our Hungry Jack on Sunday.  We sat and ate, there were 4 seats next to us that were free.  A mother and her daughter comes along to the seats 2 seats down from us....the mother checks:
Mother: Is this table dirty?
Daughter: Yes, a little
(they looked around for cleaner table, but nothing, they didn't think to wipe it down with a serviette, but instead, the mother proceeded to open up a serviette and placing it on the table.  She placed the first one on one corner of the table.  Then girlygirl coughed a little, possibly clearing her throat from the yummy Hungry Jacks...once she coughed...
Mother: "She's coughing, lets go!"

I was semi-appalled but also found it hilarious...So funny, but still...we just over-reacting slightly over this Swine Flu thing?!  But seriously, if she was DAT conscious of getting Swine Flu, why da heck is she out of her house?!?!  Far out...lotta funny and weird ppl out there!

For some strange reason, I had a nightmare last nite...haven't had those for ages...

Anyways, it started off wit me and girlygirl travelling back in time, in a diner, watching Nat King Cole perform, he came to us, cos we looked different....and we took a photo wit him.  After that, this lady walked past, she look like that lady from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, and invited us for dinner at her place, which was in the american country-side, very Kansas-y feel.  Then the crap starts happening....We got there, and the town was pretty quiet...then on the way to her house, a very young lookin Sir Alec Guiness directed us to watch out ahead, then some ppl who were in a paddock, got swallowed up by the ground, bounded wit vines and suffocated into the ground, including our lady host.  From the horror of it all, we end up staying in a house.  Then the next day, it was nice weather, but the town was still quite quiet...too quiet...it turned dark again, and then, all the ppl we saw that got pulled into the ground, end up climbing out of the ground, they had vines poking out of them, writhing like they were alive...it was if they were Zombies with plant powers.  Anyways, they started coming after us....we end up getting on a bike and rode..tryin to evade or knock any "creatures" in our way...(Keep in mind, ALL this was happening in Black & White, like an old horror movie)..then I think the shock of it woke me up...

I mean "woke" me up.  I found myself awake, turning over looking for girlygirl to reassure me that it was all a bad dream, but instead of girlygirl, it was our lady host, covered in green slime and vines writhing around her.  Realising I was still in my nightmare/movie...I ran out of the house (in that Kansas-y country-side) and ran....
then I think my geek-ness kicked in, and I found a Hoverboard and I rode to escape from the "creatures".  I kept going and left the countryside and ended back up in a park, which looked like Meadowbank park.

THEN I woke up!

Far out...what the heck?!?!?!

Can you take on a Wolf?

A few weeks/months ago, a number of us (incl girlygirl, LtChan, XGX and a few more) had lunch, and afterwards, we had coffee, and LtChan had his dose of a very girly Caramel slice.  Conversation somehow developed around how many ppl do we think would take, to take down/knock out Chuck Norris.  Since we all had different opinions about the actual power of Chuck Norris, and what is considered as "knocked out", we progress to, can we, ordinary dudes (me, XGX, LtChan and Wil) take on Chuck Norris...the discussion still remained divided.

Since we failed to comprehend the power of Chuck Norris, and the possibility of 4 dudes being killed (or possibly just get their butts whooped) by the Walker Texas Ranger, we decided to consider slightly "easier targets".  Can we (individually) take out a Wolf?!!  Yes, can YOU kill a Wolf?!?!  Personally, I doubt I can take out a fierce dog on da street let along a feral, animal instinct fueled, wild wolf.  Having seen a  few wolf movies in my time, (like American werewolf in London, Teen Wolf (1 & 2), Neverending Story 1, 300, Van Helsing, Underworld), I doubt I can take on a wolf... we considered senarios, if it pounces at u, then u'll prob block wit ur arm, then u can prob use the opportunity, while ur arm is gushing blood, to take the rest of the wolf out with ur free arm, u know, one human arm against Wolverine-like claws.  It was definitely amusing to see that me, possibly the wimpiest of the 4 (Common, I'm an accountant), and LtChan, the only one that has formal training, and could possibly kill a man, (or a chicken, rip it apart KFC style) with his bare hands was pretty sure we can't take on a beast of the night...whilst the other two, were CONFIDENT that surely a man, can take on a wolf despite the weapons that the wolf yields with all its claws, teeth and raw muscle.

Anyways...having recently read that King David (before he was king, he was a boy tending sheep, just as he was to battle Goliath, a 9 feet tall man):
1 Sam 17:34-36 - ..."When a lion or bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth.  When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.  You servant has killed both the lion and the bear..."

David was but a BOY! tending sheep...sure, he killed a man wit a sling shot, (Slingshots don't kill ppl, ppl kill ppl).  But he "seized it, struck it and killed it", and those were lions and bears!!!  surely, they're more powerful than a wolf!  I mean, is it DAT easy??!?!  Makes me think twice..may be I AM able to kill a wolf?!?!

What do you guys reckon?  Can YOU kill a wolf?!?!

Well, with another long wkend in sight, this week seems to be at a stand still with things continuously loading on, so it seems...house, and work dominating the usual week...*sigh*...how boring...
Anyways, as I sit here in the office contemplating the accruals I'm about to enter, for some reason unkoh's voice rings in my head "Heaven, I'm in heaven..." from his talk on Sunday....ah, u big lug...did kinda created a break for me, (hence the blog)...unkoh's such a distraction....

Well, just the usual rant, work is annoying and full on....still keeping my options open and have already started looking, but no luck...it is definitely an employers market....have slowed down the "hunting" from nightly to twice a week, and already thinkin mite slow down to a weekly hunt, with job ads getting less and less.  Still "happy" to work at the current place...well, til I find something else....but yeah, guess I have a job, for now...I figured, actually job security even now at this current place isn't that secure, but guess I have better odds here than looking elsewhere at the moment.

Anyways, still organise the move for house...very slowly...but it's all good....

Well, that's it for now..back to my journals and reports....*sigh*...

For the longest time, since coming back from overseas, I've had the most vivid memories/visions of the places we've been to for the past year. I feel like I'm Hiro Nakamura, or Peter Petrelli/Isaac Mendez when they're painting the future. The memory is so clear that I remember most details of the cities, or just part of the cities where we've visited, it's like being there again. Girlygirl said it's great that it's made such a lasting impression, which has been good...but also makes the travel bug bite when it happens. Anyways, this morning the place that comes into mind was Belgium, especially on our 2nd trip...our trip was based in Bruge, but we also had day trips (kinda) out to Ghent and Antwerpes...anyways, the image of today was Bruge...we've been walkin around for a full morning pretty much, following the walking tour that we got from the Tourist Info ctr...we finished going thru an ancient part of the city where we found an authentic sweets store, which sells their traditional candy, Cuberdons (I've been craving for some recently)...they're purple in color, liquidy on da inside (they say it's gummy, but it's really just liquidy)...and hard on da outside...in a shape of a cone...bound to give u diabetes after 3 of them...anyways...after gettin the goods, we headed for lunch...didn't know where to go around dat part of town, and being sore from walkin, we saw a pizzeria and grabbed 2 slices of pizza to share. It wasn't sunny, slightly windy, but still ok weather...we sat on a seat/bench in a lil square on top of a bridge/platform thingy over a canal...I remember seeing a couple, who were the new couples dat moved into our B&B the nite b4... Oh, and our B&B in Bruge was the best! the host was really nice! recommended us not to go to the touristy restaurants..but go to their local dining places...of which she recommended a few....oh and one arvo, as usual after a long day's walk, we rested in our hotel...girlygirl had fallen asleep...I was watching tv (one city in Europe that has an english channel, BESIDES MTV)...anyways, had a documentary on Tsunami...which actually, thinkin about it, had something to do with my wanting us to go to Santorini when we were thinkin of going to Greece/Greek Isles. Anyways...that what happens wen my mind wanders these days...memories of a place from our trip...then one memory leads onto others...but yeah....good to travel again...in my head....

Semi update/whinge about work....

Well it's been a bit over a month since I started this job...and like most jobs it has its ups & downs. To me starting a new job, it's almost like going into someone's home that you've never been to. Often u dunno where you go, where things are situated and how things work around the place. So I guess it does take some time to get use to it. Anyways....after 1 month, and going thru 2 month-ends...I dunno whether I'm suppose to be on top of it all, or still excusable that I'm still adjusting.

Anyways, in the hotels division where I work, each month-end we have to prepare the results for 5 hotels. I had initially thought I was suppose to prep all 5 hotels, but found out from my boss dat the guy b4 me only did 2-3 hotels, they shared the load. Anyways, I attempted to close all 5 hotels, but last week I end up palming one hotel to my boss, and I did most of the other 4 hotels. However, may b I'm new, but each time I prep them, my boss still reviews them...and more often than not, there are adjustments to be made..or corrections of my attempts to prep the hotel results. Anyways...from previous experience I've prepped results before, and my bosses review 'em and are ok wit my preps, even tho sometimes I'm a bit too conservative...better to be conservative than not...(very accountant like I know)...anyways...after being here tho....I find it frustrating that ppl can be even MORE conservative than me...or they're just plain anal! For the past two month-ends, I've had plenty of adjustments to make due to either over accruing on my part, OR worse...having to adjust an account because there was a few cents variance from budget...today was told, there shouldn't be a $0.02 variance in one account....F#$%^&*&^$&#$#@ (may be he just likes to give his "2 cents worth"...get it?!?!?!)

I've also been confused to the fact that, despite last month being told that when we accrue, we accrue for the exact period-end date...I did so this month, but have been advise that I should just accrue for the full amount instead....AND also, the fact that the Financial Controller, she would like to see the prepped results on Wednesday morning, per her schedule...my boss insisted we get our results done by Tuesday morning....so cut the deadline day a WHOLE day earlier...hmmm....

Anyways...it's been a month...I feel like I CAN be on top of everything...but at the same time NOT! cos I'm sure there's still bits and pieces my boss hasn't told me the nitty-gritty of it neither....hmmmm.....anyways....

Oh well....despite all dat, it has been ok....since London, I've made an effort to go out at lunch time to get away from work for an hour...so yeah, working in da city kinda helps (went today...so many DVDs out there....). Also, ppl have been ok....some have been quite cool (minus my boss, Mr 2cents, as oppose to 50cent)....that and the fact that the current financial climate, and we still managed to find something. It has been good.

Anyways, dis is wat I felt like doing, when my boss told me about da 2cents...(orig. Star Wars Kid)
